When I sent my first manuscript off to a publisher I was expecting a rejection letter, something I could use as proof I tried. I got a contract instead. Over 2 years later I've sold more than 1100 copies of that book, published another, and have a contract for a third. This doesn't include 2 short stories and a novella. I guess I can classify myself as a success.

Of course, over the course of the two plus years I've been here, I have indeed received some rejections. The first rejection was such an emphatic "no" that I decided to just put that project on the shelf and forget about it. But, I received some advice from someone who has been publishing m/m novels for over 20 years. That advice was to rework the story. After a year of hurt feelings, I did. It will be published early next year.
