With a whimper, not a bang

The journey started at the end of March. I received notification that The King's Heart had entered the editing stage. My husband and I were up north attending his aunt's memorial service. I figured I would be home in time to complete edits, and I was excited that this project was nearing its end. Once I responded to the email, I found out the incredible good news that Dreamspinner also intended to re-edit and re-release The King's Tale. I was elated! My first book going into its second edition!

As it turned out, I needed to deal with the re-edit of The King's Tale first. I identified all the Welsh words, and researched pronunciations for the Cornish words. It felt good revisiting the book. But then there were the edits to be done on The King's Heart, and as I said last week I lost my groove.

But, I still had the giddy knowledge that my first book was going to be released as a second edition, and I was still pretty pleased by that.

I worked hard on all the edits, and reading the galley proofs for both books. After I opted not to read the galley proof for The King's Tale the first time, and "bed strings" got changed to "bed springs" (happily changed back now!) I knew I couldn't skip reading the galleys. All this coincided with the end of the school year, and so much stress I ended up breaking out in a rash.

And just to make the whole stress portrait complete, the cover came a few days ago right while I'm in the midst of a trade show for our side business. Yikes! In the chaos of trying to be excited about the cover, and the knowledge that this is all happening!!!....I locked myself out of my Facebook.

So now the cover is set, I got back in my Facebook, and I found out the book is releasing a week from tomorrow! Wow....overload! The books are also all listed in the Series section at Dreamspinner, along with the free eBook "The Magic of Lammas"...

Hence, the title of this post. I've been so happy in the background about The King's Heart and the re-release of The King's Tale....and as the project seems to have been chaos from the start, the announcement passed with a whimper, not a bang.

But the bottom line is, I'm still super excited. And pleased.

It's all go! So pleased things are firing ahead for you. *hugs* And that you could change those pesky bedsprings - I know that bugged you. It would bug me too.
