What are you up to now?

There's a good chance I'll never be able to attend the Gay Rom Lit conference. October has been take up with the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest for the past nine years. Early to mid October finds audiophiles from around the world converging on the Denver Tech Center for a weekend of music, meeting up with old friends, and hi-jinks. Last year it was the very same weekend as GRL, this year it was the weekend before. Either way, it's hard enough for me to take time off my day job for RMAF, so getting two weekends off in a row would be next to impossible. Maybe some year it will be in the Greater Los Angeles area, and not the same weekend as RMAF, and then maybe I can attend. It looks like a lot of fun.

Official Writer Stuff

I've never posted a picture of myself. Quite honestly, that would be one of my fears about going to GRL anyway. It's not that I'm camera shy, my mug is all over the pictures from RMAF. But, I write erotica...and even though my boss knows about it and even owns one of my books, I really don't think my "clients" would be okay with my writing.

I bring this up because on my way to and from RMAF I read a book about writers and social media. Turns out I do some of the things right, but most of them wrong. For the foreseeable future my "brand" will just be my name and my colored pencils heart. I hope this doesn't make anyone trust me less.

On the topic of erotica, I had a trying conversation with some people in Denver about the difference between pornography and erotica. The outcome was, a lot of my acquaintances are not comfortable with what I write. They like me, they support me, but they don't understand why I write what I write.

Growing up?

I submitted "Red Sunset" (sequel for "Blue Moon") four weeks ago. In the past, every time I've submitted something I go into high-stress mode and obsess over it. This time I'm not obsessing. I don't really know why, but I figure it is what it is, and I've still got another few weeks to wait to hear anything. I'd like to write more with those characters, I'll just have to wait for inspiration.

I think that's all for now. I'm going to try to get on a more regular blogging schedule. I guess the first step is to make a list of topics. I do think, however, that it will end up delayed for a time being. I went to visit my mother-in-law today, and I'm not sure how much time she has left.

I can understand why you don't want to put your pic out there, but I for one love to put the face to their works :) Maybe you could PM me a pic of you ;)

I also understand not being able to get consecutive weekends off for conferences, vacation, etc etc, and since I have to arrange for my child to be cared for, it's more trouble at times than it's worth.

Congratulations on your recent submission!! I'm praying for you :) I'm also praying for you MIL. . . may you all be at peace

Oh...one of these days I might get brave and post a picture. ;)

When you work with the public, they have to come first sometimes. I'm sure GRL will survive without me. RMAF though...probably not ;)

Thanks! I'm fully expecting to wait the full 8 weeks, so there's still quite a ways to go before I hear about Red Sunset.

And thank you...for everything <3
